Your Dream Is Not an Accident

Introduction
You know that feeling. That stirring deep in your gut that shows up at the strangest moments — in the shower, on your commute, in the middle of a meeting where you're pretending to care about a project that has nothing to do with the life you actually want. That, my friend, is your dream. And it didn't show up by accident.

You know that feeling.

That stirring deep in your gut that shows up at the strangest moments — in the shower, on your commute, in the middle of a meeting where you're pretending to care about a project that has nothing to do with the life you actually want. It whispers to you at two in the morning when the house is quiet and the world is still. It's the thought you can't shake, the vision you can't unsee, the longing that refuses to leave no matter how many times you try to talk yourself out of it.

That, my friend, is your dream. And it didn't show up by accident.

I need you to hear me on this because it's the most important thing I will say in this entire book: the dream inside you is not random. It is not a mistake. It is not some cruel joke the universe is playing on you, dangling a vision of a life you can never have just to watch you suffer. Your dream was placed inside you with precision, with purpose, and with a plan. It chose you because you are the only one on this planet who can bring it to life exactly the way it needs to be brought to life.

I know that might sound like a lot right now. Especially if you're reading this from a place of frustration, exhaustion, or quiet desperation. Especially if you've been carrying this dream for years — maybe decades — and you're no closer to living it than you were the first time it crossed your mind. Especially if life has knocked you around, and you've started to wonder whether it's time to let the dream go and just be "realistic."

Don't you dare.

I wrote this book because I've been exactly where you are. I know what it feels like to carry a dream so big it makes you feel foolish for having it. I know what it's like to look at your bank account, your circumstances, your current address, your relationship status, your age — and feel a canyon-wide gap between where you are and where you want to be. I know the loneliness of having a vision that nobody else around you can see, let alone support. I know the special kind of pain that comes from watching other women live versions of the life you want while you sit on the sidelines wondering, When is it going to be my turn?

Here's what I also know: your turn comes the moment you decide to take it.

Why Most Women Abandon Their Dreams Before They Even Start

Let me tell you something that breaks my heart on a regular basis. The majority of women who have powerful, world-changing, life-altering dreams will never pursue them. Not because they're not smart enough. Not because they're not talented enough. Not because the dreams themselves are impossible. They abandon their dreams because somewhere along the way, someone or something convinced them that they weren't allowed to want that much.

We live in a world that tells women to be ambitious but not too ambitious. To be confident but not cocky. To want more but not too much more. To dream but to keep those dreams "reasonable." We're taught from a young age that being a good woman means being selfless, which somehow got translated into "don't have desires of your own."

And so we shrink. We shrink our desires to fit the expectations of the people around us. We shrink our visions to match the size of our current circumstances. We shrink our ambitions so that the people in our lives don't feel uncomfortable, threatened, or left behind. And then we wonder why we feel so restless, so unfulfilled, so trapped in lives that look fine on the outside but feel suffocating on the inside.

I'm here to tell you: the shrinking stops today.

This Book Is Your Bridge

This is not a book about wishing harder. This is not a book that's going to tell you to light a candle, write your dream on a piece of paper, and wait for the universe to deliver it to your doorstep. Let me be crystal clear about something: manifestation without action is just daydreaming with extra steps.

This book is a bridge. It's the bridge between where you are right now — the dreaming, the wishing, the hoping, the scrolling through other people's success stories with a mix of inspiration and envy — and where you want to be. The living, the building, the creating, the becoming.

Over the next ten chapters, we are going to do the deep, real, sometimes uncomfortable work of turning your dream into your reality. We're going to examine the beliefs, habits, fears, and patterns that have kept you stuck. We're going to get brutally honest about where you are and fiercely intentional about where you're going.

This is not theory. This is a battle plan for your life.

My Promise to You

Here is what I promise you: I will not sugarcoat anything in this book. I love you too much for that, and I respect you too much for that. I'm going to tell you the truth — the real truth, not the comfortable version — about what it takes to turn a dream into a reality. Some of it will fire you up. Some of it will make you uncomfortable. Some of it might even make you angry. Good. Anger is fuel. Discomfort is growth. And the truth, even when it stings, is always better than a beautiful lie.

I also promise you this: your dream is possible. I don't care how old you are. I don't care how broke you are right now. I don't care how many times you've tried and failed. If the dream is still in you, it is still for you. And this book is going to help you bring it to life.

So take a deep breath. Say a prayer, set an intention, or just decide right now that you are done playing small. The woman you're becoming is already inside you. She's been waiting. She's been patient. But she is ready.

Let's build your reality.
